REFLECTION - FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The first few chapters you really have to get comfortable with the style of writing. Christopher Boone, a fifteen year old boy, tells the story out of his own perspective. It`s similar to a diary. This could be an explanation why sometimes he says something directly to the reader, which has nothing to do with the dog-story. In my opinion it`s a funny way to bring variety into the book.

Actually I don`t know someone who is like Christopher, a person with autism. So it`s very interesting to see what`s going on in a head Christopher. Maybe because of this disruption you`ve got to adjust to this writing style. But once you`ve comfortable with it, it`s getting more and more funny and interesting.
In my opinion the funniest example for his thoughts until now ist his theory with the red and yellow cars. If you see five red cars in a row, it`s gonna be a SUPER GOOD DAY. If there are just four red cars in a row, it will be a QUITE GOOD DAY. Logically, three red cars are a GOOD DAY. But if there are four yellow cars in a row, it will be a BLACK DAY.

For Christopher, this seems as logic as for „normal“ people a sunny day is a good day and a cloudy or rainy day is a bad day.

  1. I agree with having to get comfortable with the style of writing. It is what makes this book so special though, don't you think? Please remember to always begin your writing by copy the question you chose!
